Request the Screening

If you have auto-screening turned out, your request for the TransUnion rental screening will generate automatically after the tenant completes their application. They will complete a short verification process and the background check will be generated.

Review the TransUnion rental screening

After the tenant submits their application and approval for the background check, the Transunion rental screening will appear on your RentRedi dashboard.

You will get a complete background check:

When you’re looking at the report, check out how the tenant’s credit score compares to your minimum standards. (Most landlords are looking for around 600-650 for a minimum.) You can also review the criminal record and eviction records as well.

However, be aware of how the HUD’s requirements for reviewing a tenant’s criminal record and how it affects your denial of a tenant’s application. It is not uncommon for it to be against the HUD’s housing discrimination laws to prevent landlords from denying someone with a criminal record.
